Through our Aging Simulation Experience, participants had the chance to step into the shoes of the elderly and experience the physical and emotional challenges they face daily. Equipped with gear that limited their vision, mobility and hearing, attendees tried to perform daily tasks such as picking up sweets with chopsticks —a humbling activity that sparked deeper understanding and compassion.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many sharing how the simulation changed their perception of ageing.

At our booth, we shared practical tips, including advice on mealtime care, to make daily routines safer and more comfortable. We were delighted to see participants from all age groups—children, youth, and even seniors themselves—eager to learn more about supporting their loved ones. This collective enthusiasm was a testament to the community’s commitment to creating a more inclusive society.

The event reminded us that even simple actions can create lasting positive change. By fostering empathy and understanding in the younger generation, we can build a more caring and inclusive society for our ageing population.

How can we build a community that truly cares for its elderly? This question came alive during the recent Community Resilience Day at Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, where participants of all ages connected through meaningful activities and insightful learning. It was a weekend filled with opportunities to foster empathy, share practical advice, and take small but impactful steps toward supporting our ageing population.

As we immerse ourselves in celebrations and holiday preparations, it’s easy to overlook the importance of self-care and being prepared for emergencies.

Our team demonstrated essential life-saving skills and first aid awareness, inviting participants to engage hands-on and deepen their knowledge. These skills are vital for personal safety and for helping others.

Together, we look forward to enabling more people in our community to gain basic caregiving and first response knowledge, helping to build a stronger local safety net with trained neighbours and volunteers nearby.

We were excited to welcome over 5,400 participants at the SkillsFuture Festival 2024. The combination of engaging workshops and a bustling job fair created a meaningful and impactful experience. Over two days, attendees gained essential healthcare skills and connected with potential employers, making it a valuable hub for learning and career advancement.

The sessions covered topics including psychological first aid and specialised care for the elderly, paediatrics, and individuals with special needs. Participants gained essential skills and knowledge designed to enhance their caregiving abilities and improve the outcomes for those they serve. By equipping them with tools for psychological resilience and specialised care techniques, we aimed to ensure that every interaction during NDP events is supportive and impactful.

We're excited to share our recent training initiative for the National Day Parade (NDP) staff and volunteers! Over May and June 2024, we successfully trained more than 190 individuals across six sessions.

During the event, we had the pleasure of welcoming Guest-of-Honour Ms. Rachel Ong, Member of Parliament for West Coast GRC, to our booth. We were delighted to share our social impact initiatives with her, connecting with the community, and promoting first response together.

During the event, attendees had the opportunity to actively participate in workshops and experiential booths that focused on learning important life skills related to healthcare.These workshops encompassed a diverse range of topics, including understanding the aging process and preventing falls, learning the effective utilisation of mobility aids, responding to choking emergencies, and acquiring fundamental knowledge in infant care management.

In addition to the workshops, in collaboration with StarMed Specialist Centre and our patient service associate trainees, we conducted basic health screenings at the event. Attendees had the opportunity to receive a BMI measurement, have their blood pressure checked, and undergo a hypocount test to assess their overall health. These screenings were aimed at helping attendees monitor and take charge of their health.

In March, our team had a fulfilling month at Marina Bay Sands (MBS), where we shared valuable knowledge and skills with the staff.

We had a fantastic and energising Saturday at Katong Community Centre, sharing valuable caregiving tips for our stay-at-home elderly loved ones on 18th February 2023.

The event kicked off with a health talk by our trainer, Mr Khairudin, on emergency life support and basic caregiving knowledge.

It was a great honour to host Assoc Prof Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of National Development, at our education booth.

We are happy to engage with participants on quick tips in home caregiving that they can apply when caring for the elderly. We hope that everyone had an enriching Saturday afternoon!
